Olio

Located on the second floor of The Old Rum Store, the space features a contemporary indoor dining room with historic arch windows flooding the venue with natural light.

At the heart of Olio (Italian for olive oil) is award-winning executive chef and Sicilian native, Lino Sauro. Lino comes from a lone lineage of self-sufficient farmers and his passion for food and produce is evident in his menus. Sauro and his team open the doors to Olio as they would their family home and turn on the Italian charm, ensuring an unforgettable experience for you and your guests.

All events deserve a great setting whether you are hosting a corporate lunch or dinner, wedding, engagement party, end of year celebration, milestone birthday, a family gathering or a canapé cocktail celebration. The Private Kitchen

The Private Kitchen at Kensington Street is a private event space for hire as well as a bespoke pop-up restaurant showcasing acclaimed local and international chefs.

Located on the third floor of The Old Rum Store, a distinguished old building recently brought back to life in Chippendale’s buzzy Kensington Street, The Private Kitchen offers an indoor space flooded with plenty of natural light and a large wrap around balcony. The modern design complements the raw, industrial elements remaining from the original building structure.

The Private Kitchen can be booked for private or corporate functions. The venue has a capacity of up to 120 people standing and 80 seated. There is no venue hire fee but there is a minimum spend.

Eastside Grill

Chef Stanley Wong has had an enviable culinary career working in several applauded restaurants worldwide including the famed Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong and opening Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Spice Market in New York City as Executive Chef. His extensive experience coupled with his recent appearance in The Private Kitchen in Sydney makes him a natural fit for Eastside Grill.

The restaurant evokes the atmosphere of New York’s meatpacking district, delivering a menu touched by the distinctive flavour of the traditional Japanese Binchotan charcoal grill. It’s this plus so much more that makes Eastside Grill a truly unique space to host all styles of functions and events.

Dark, sexy and theatrical, the restaurant features a leather panelled-bar with bronze back bar display. A custom brass light fixture, a runway of herringbone flooring and an assortment of steel and leather chairs, marrying the existing raw structure of this 100 year old building with the classic elements of a New York grill.

Mekong On Kensington Street

As its name suggests, Mekong on Kensington Street will take you on a culinary journey down the Mekong River. With dishes taking inspiration from Burma, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, Chef Tiw Rakarin provides a contemporary snapshot of well-known classics. Share plates combining the distinct flavours of the South East Asian region put Rakarin at the forefront of Indochine cuisine.

Located on Kensington Street, above the bustling Spice Alley, Mekong counterbalances that inner-city chaos with a calm and peaceful dining environment. Mekong’s interior styling pays homage to the river’s topography. Natural light ripples in through the high glass walls into a space buttressed by bamboo.

Mekong’s unique upper level is available for functions of up to 80 people and provides the ideal atmosphere for both corporate and private events.

Mekong Mezzanine is a semi-private space located on the floor below the restaurant. The space offers an intimate space to host any celebration of up to 25 people and provides the perfect backdrop for intimate gatherings and events.

Spice House

Spice House is the district’s newest function space. Nestled amidst Chippendale’s historic row of terraces, this upstairs space offers three cosy rooms and a balcony, each bursting with personality and adorned with Asian street art.

The rooms at Spice House set the mood for an intimate dinner and drinks shared between close friends and offer catering for your crowd from your favourite Spice Alley vendors.

Follow the fiery red dragon up the stairs to experience the spicy flavour of Kensington Street, and don’t be fooled by this terrace’s unassuming exterior. Invite your friends to share in the seductive hum that spills from the graffitied walls of this gem in the rough and enjoy a special dining experience for your upcoming occasion.

The Spice House can accommodate bookings of up to 25 people in their Banquet Room and up to 10 people in each of the smaller private room and with bookings starting at just $25 per head, Spice House is a must-go destination for any celebration.
