Blending six of the city’s most popular, most Instagram-worthy restaurants with a film line-up that’ll satisfy every retro craving you’ve ever had. Gourmet Cinema combines an outdoor movie experience with a food festival that’ll have you embracing your inner couch potato and taking it to new cinematic and culinary levels.

Beginning March 1st, the lawns of Caulfield Racecourse will be taken over to bring you classics such as Top Gun and Little Miss Sunshine, while providing you with the culinary goodness of four selected restaurants, with one hero restaurant taking creative license with a movie-inspired menu each night.

To kick of the season, Hotel Jesus presents Chef – an American comedy-drama featuring film favourites such as Robert Downey Jr. and Sofia Vergara and even more scrumptious dishes such as Cuban sandwiches, beef cheeks and Texas-style brisket that’ll undoubtedly make your mouth water. Luckily, Head Chef Luke Hammond is here to bring you the true tastes of Mexico to satisfy all the ensuing cravings – think Tacos and market-inspired Tostadas.

On March 2nd we’re invited into the Hoover family’s van in the comedy-drama roadtrip film Little Miss Sunshine. And while we nostalgically adore a little Abigail Breslin dancing on stage to ‘Superfreak’, Jimmy Grants vamps it all up with George Calombaris’ modern interpretation of an Athenian Souvlaki bar – think slow-roasted lamb and mouth-watering kebabs. Now that’s Friday night done right.

The goodies keep coming, with Benny Burger presenting 80s classics like Top Gun and The Lost Boys, and Uncle pairing up traditional pho and banh mi’s with juicy chicken wings that’ll keep us good and fed during Sideways and La La Land. Not that we’ll be able to take our eyes off the screen while Ryan Gosling is on it anyway.

Add Helenic Republic taking care of your Mediterranean needs with their traditional Greek food during the screening of Before Midnight, and you’ve got yourself a food coma (just like at yiayia’s)…

Lastly, it’s fiesta time! Get yourself some tacos, margheritas and churros from Mamasita as you watch the sultry Spanish flick Vicky Christina Barcelona under a glowing, setting sun. Things are about to get sizzling hot in here.
