Midsumma Festival – Celebrating Queer Culture

Midsumma Festival is celebrating queer culture in Melbourne with a wide range of performing arts, visual arts, live music events, as well as community and sporting activities. Offering a diverse, exciting and relevant program, the festival continues to attract a broad and ever evolving audience to Melbourne and Victoria. Each year over 100,000 individuals across Melbourne and Australia participate in and attend Midsumma Festival events.

The festival opens with Carnival on 15 January, a day-long celebration in the City of Melbourne’s Birrarung Marr, providing access to both queer and mainstream communities to picnic with family and friends as well as engage with community groups and browse the commercial stallholders.
