Collingwood Yards is situated on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people. We acknowledge the deep significance this area holds for First Peoples and are committed to ongoing reconciliation. Contemporary Arts Precincts is a registered charity overseeing Collingwood Yards, the not-for-profit arts precinct open to the public and ready to explore.

The precinct is home to artists, galleries, cultural organisations, restaurants, bars, retail stores, and offices. Collingwood Yards is an incubator for Victoria’s creative community. The unique self-sustaining model uses commercial tenancies and external venue and event bookings to subsidise affordable spaces for artists and cultural organisations. Collingwood Yards presents hundreds of public events every year in its venues including art exhibitions, markets, live music, and more.

The precinct is primed for large-scale events with spaces designed to work together, allowing for full takeovers and multi-pronged activations. Supporting up to 1,500 guests, the site is fully equipped with parking, loading zones, bathrooms, and extra flex spaces to accommodate a wide array of experiences.

SPACES

CY Venue

CY Venue is a versatile and adaptable event and performance venue, which can be activated at full capacity or divided into smaller spaces for your business and creative needs.

Housed within the Johnston Street building of the Collingwood Yards precinct, this fully refurbished space is equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure to support Victorias events and creative industries.

Our north-facing venue is bathed in natural light with blackout blinds throughout. CY Venue features climate control in every space, adjustable stage and venue lighting and a variety of furniture options for different event and booking needs.

Our venue is located on the Upper Ground level of Johnston Street and is accessible by ramp from the Collingwood Yards main entrance or by lift from the art deco entrance next to PBS. The stage and green room are accessible via a ramp.

There are also accessible and ambulant all gender bathrooms on this level in the public corridor.

In addition to the main event space/s, CY Venue features a foyer and green room, both of which can be used as break out spaces. Our Foyer includes a kitchenette and service area equipped with dishwasher, bar fridges, microwaves and space for ticketing and attendee registration.

Please note when hiring only one part of the space that your hire may include sharing the foyer, kitchenette and access points with other bookings. Every action to minimise intrusions or disruptions to your booking will be taken.

CY Venue Half

CY Venue Half is ideal for workshops, rehearsals, professional development, business meetings and functions.

The space features a flat floor and bar service area, along with built-in bench seating around the perimeter of the room, in addition to chairs, round tables & desks which are all available for use.

Facilities include a projector & screen for presentations, as well as several scrolling text and tv screens which can be programmed with digital content. This space has a single entrance from the foyer.

CY Venue Half hire does not include access to the greenroom.

CY Venue Stage

CY Venue Stage is the perfect venue for performances, launches, presentations, panel events and livestreams.

The space features a stage accessible via a wide ramp, sound desk and bar service area, along with access to the green room and foyer. There are multiple entrances from the foyer to allow for back-stage only access.

Two fixed cameras support live-streaming and recording of events. Standard hire includes access to the following technical equipment: lights, microphones, projector & screen, lectern, as well the in-house PA system. Several scrolling text screens are also able to be programmed with digital content.

The floor plan is flexible, with chairs, round tables & desks all available for use.

CY Space

CY Space is a versatile community room and activity space located on the upper ground level of the Johnston Street building at the Collingwood Yards.

Adjacent to the Courtyard it is accessible via ramp from the main Johnston Street entrance. It is designed as a flexible and adaptable space for tenants and our neighbours. CY Space is designed for tenant and community activation and to support local engagement across the Collingwood Yards.

CY Space can be hired for exhibitions, workshops, presentations, meetings, rehearsals, pop-ups, panels, screenings and film/photo shoots.

Equipped with a projector, speakers, A/C, block out blinds and seating for up to 40 people. There are fully accessible, ambulant and all gender bathrooms located next to it.

CY Courtyard

The Courtyard is a dynamic, high-capacity and multi-functional event space located in the centre of the Collingwood Yards precinct.

The Courtyard is the ideal location for a range of activities including exhibitions, installations, performances, markets, showcases, festivals, live music and parties.

CY Courtyard can be hired as a single space or as part of precinct wide activations and can be hired in conjunction with our other venues including CY Space and CY Venue Courtyard hire can also include activation of the Circus Oz amphitheatre and shared thoroughfare for food trucks upon approval.

The Courtyard is a shared public space for all of our tenants and community to access but can still host ticketed events through the use of temporary barriers.

Whilst the space has no built in event infrastructure, some equipment can be hired from Collingwood Yards. They welcome activations and will work collaboratively with hirers, promoters and event managers to execute a range of engaging events.

External clients are welcome to hire our courtyard however we encourage you to work with our tenants on your events through services that they can provide to support your activations.
