Its the F*cking Catalina Wine Mixer

by Sheena Giblin

Call it a nation-wide collaboration if you will, Welcome to Thornbury and South Australia’s Howard Vineyard are bringing the biggest (or smallest) event of the year to our beloved north-side food truck park, on the 14th of September.

A perfect opportunity to have a few wines wearing a Captain’s hat, there will be a massive yacht parked in the middle of the beer garden to complete the no longer fictional Catalina experience.

Entry is free, but if you’d prefer to chase the feeling of someone who can afford said yacht, there are various packages available that will score you a VIP experience, wine slings included.

There will be a lot of wine, we’re talking huge amounts. From tastings, packages that will score you a bottomless pour for three hours, grape stomping, and fun, informative talks about wine from expert makers that could come in handy for future trivia if you’re willing to listen. If not, that’s cool too.

Helicopters didn’t make the budget this year, but that doesn’t cancel out the opportunity to ride one, with a heap of trip related prizes up for grabs throughout the day including an all-expenses paid getaway to Howard Vineyard

The dress code is but not subjected to, Hamptons-chic, so come sporting your boat shoes that you can finally wear free of judgement, and creased linen shorts that will no doubt be ruined by the end of the night. Thornbury will of course have various food trucks open if you’re after some grub.

Melbourne 9 piece band Sex On Toast will be performing an exclusive set in the band room, alongside local DJ’s spinning yacht rock classics throughout the day.

Whether you’re a wine lover, or one of the people everyone unfortunately knows that can recite the entirety of Step Brothers, this day long sesh might be for you.
