Established in 1880, The Riverview Hotel is truly one of Sydney’s classic restaurants. Tucked in the tree lined back streets of Balmain it is affectionately called ‘The Riv’ as it retains its original patina remixed with a modern edge. When you walk into ‘The Riv’, as it’s known by locals, it’s not hard to see why this much-loved little bar was awarded best casual dining venue for 2015. The restaurant, which is consistently rated as one of the best dining rooms in Sydney, dishes out modern European meals and is proudly served by friendly, attentive and enthusiastic staff. Dine amongst olive green walls and naked, dark-brown tabletops, in a room full of private little nooks and crannys, making it a perfect restaurant for a first date, date night, or any other intimate occasion. The Riverview also offers High Tea on Saturday afternoons, as well as an extensive and carefully considered wine and cocktail list. The menu at The Riverview Hotel changes regularly according to seasonal produce availability, and diners can expect autumnal dishes such as Berkshire pork neck with pickled apple, parsnip & black pudding, or crispy duck with red cabbage, lentils & pine nuts.
