A team of recognisable faces – George and Erica Gregan, Sam Neill, David Wenham, Phil Waugh and Michael Campbell – opened the Local Bar a few years back and have created a place that is exactly what its name suggests; a local bar.
The concept behind the bar is simple. The team wanted to create a place where people can open a bottle of wine with friends. The charm of this CBD hotspot comes from its European style sidewalk chairs and the award-winning interior, complete with warm lighting and a standout copper bar.
The Local Bar maintains an inviting atmosphere year round where you’ll always be greeted by comfortable seating inside and out, heaters in the cooler months and the very best wines.
The wine list is extensive, with over 150 wines in total from different parts of Australia and all over the world. The whole group gave input as to their favourites, with some leaving a more personal stamp like Sam Neill whose 2016 Pinot Noir from his New Zealand winery Two Paddocks is available. The food, which has been specifically designed to complement the wine, is always fresh and the menu robust with options.
