Screening no less than 326 films from across 65 countries, the Sydney Film Festival is back for another year. Far from being the underground hipster event that film festivals are thought as, the Sydney Film Festival brings the greatest, strangest and most exciting films that cinema has to offer. Throw in some happy hours, themed parties and an epic virtual reality program and you’ve got yourself a hub of entertainment for every taste.

The festival may be wrapping up but that doesn’t mean that the feature films are. Closing out the festival with plenty of laughter will be Hearts Beat Loud. Staring Nick Offerman as Frank, an ageing hipster musician who forms an unlikely band with his daughter before she heads off to college. After secretly recording one of their ‘jam sessions’ and uploading it online Frank finds his music dream revived with a minor hit. Now he just has to convince his daughter that dropping out of college is worth it to chase a musical dream.

This exuberant comedy is stacked full of fun music and an even better cast. The best part? You can win a double pass to the closing night gala on the 17th June. We have 5 double passes to giveaway to 5 winners.

Whether you have tickets to a film or not you can join in the festivities at ‘The Hub’– the heart of the festival. Drop by between films and grab a drink and enjoy all the behind the scene festivities. There’s even a happy hour between 4:30pm and 6pm on weekdays, not to mention themed parties and Q&A’s with filmmakers!

While you’re there make sure to enjoy some mind-blowing VR experiences curated by the collective BADFAITH. Step into another universe with The Hub’s virtual reality shows. Planet Immersive will have you experiencing client change first hand deep in the Arctic, while Space Explorers: A New Dawn will have you flying into outer space.

The Sydney Film Festival runs until the 17th June with plenty of films on show during this final week. For the full Sydney Film Festival program, head here.
