Top 5 Doggo-Friendly Cafes

Visiting delicious brunch spots and cafes with exquisite coffee is always an enjoyable pastime. With a group of your nearest and dearest in tow, this experience couldn’t possibly get any better, right?

Wrong.

I’ve got three words for you: Dog. Friendly. Cafes. That’s right. You heard correct. It’s like a cafe, but with dogs, and yeah, what more could you want in life?

Whether you’ve got your own pooch or you’re with somebody who does (or you’re just that creepy person without a pet who always flocks to the dogs of others like a seagull to a morsel of food), these Top Five Dog-Friendly Cafes will have you jumping for joy.

Really, you’d be barking mad (see what I did there?) not to go.

Atticus Finch Cafe
2/83 Latrobe Ter, Paddington QLD

As the name suggests, this little Paddington gem is inspired by Harper Lee’s seminal text, To Kill A Mockingbird. The cafe’s feature wall is covered from floor to ceiling in the novel’s pages, making it an aesthetic masterpiece. Serving the popular Coffee Supreme range of caffeinated beverages and a variety of wonderful breakfast and brunch items, this venue couldn’t offer anything more…or could it?

An outside deck features beautiful tapestry cushions and comfortable spaces to relax and dine. The best part of all, this thoughtful cafe provides a special deck hook for securing dogs’ leashes and a water bowl is always placed nearby. Talk about service! If you and your beautiful doge/pupperino want to be treated like the kings and queens you most certainly are, this place is for you.

Nana & Da’s
12 Homebush Rd, Kedron QLD

This old weatherboard shop used to be a bakehouse in the early 1900s, but the new owners made sure the renovated space never lost its homely, warm and rustic charm. The Kedron-based cafe serves all-day breakfast and lunch dishes which emphasise the use of beautiful, fresh produce.

Outdoor bar stools complement this venue perfectly, and most importantly, allow patrons to bring their four-legged companions. Nana & Da’s treat customers like family, making everything with love and care (bowls of water are provided for pups, i.e. they have hearts of gold).

For a barking good time, take your pooch-posse to this precious little location.

Brown Dog Cafe
54 Logan Rd, Woolloongabba QLD

Woolloongabba’s, Brown Dog Cafe says it all in the name. If their passion for pets isn’t clear, the menu items aptly named Brown Dog Burrito or the Dog’s Breakfast will leave no one in doubt. This low-key venue serves Di Manfredi coffee and a number of hearty and small-bite menu options.

The appeal for dog-owners lies in the fantastic bench seating outside. The laid-back, ‘weekend’ vibe is persuasive, making you stay for “just another five minutes” two hours after saying so. There are park-your-dog spaces, making it an ideal place for you and your doggerino to spend some quality time together.

Coffee, delicious food and pet bonding time? This is definitely a match made in doggy heaven!

Goodness Gracious Cafe
250 Oxley Rd, Graceville QLD

Providing nutritious, sustainable and fresh produce to its patrons, this Graceville cafe pulls out all the stops when it comes to giving you the best dining experience possible. Everything served here is customisable to personal preference or diet; this is a unique selling-point and one that keeps food-lovers coming back for more. A resident pastry chef crafts beautiful sweet and savoury treats in-house (TREAT YO’SELF), making this a one-stop-shop for all your brunch and snacking needs.

However, it doesn’t stop there. Perhaps the best thing about Goodness Gracious Cafe is its hospitality towards dogs. Yes, an outdoor area is provided and yes, water bowls are included; this isn’t what I’m referring to. I’m talking about DOGGIE ICE CREAM. Can you believe it? Imagine walking up to the counter, ordering a coffee and a “doggie ice cream” to go? Not only will your little floof love you forever and always, but you will basically have a walking, talking (barking?) brunch companion to share your time with.

Little Loco
121 Merthyr Rd, New Farm QLD

When your furry friends are welcome at an establishment, you know it’s a place you want to be. New Farm’s, Little Loco is a trendy little cafe blending healthy meals with decent portion sizes. Offering nutritious super shakes, activated charcoal breakfast items and a large range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten/dairy free options – this venue has a little something for everybody.

Of course, no weekend breakfast outing is complete without your partner in crime. Outdoor seating provides adequate space for you and your fluffy pal to soak up the sun and enjoy some caffeine. You obviously need two seats (one for you and one for your doggo friend) so get in quick – seats fill fast on the weekend!
