ABOUT Knox St Bar
Best Hidden Bars

Bustling away above an underground stream that once fed Chippendale’s iconic Tooth and Co brewery, and down a driveway behind a sliding door, Knox St is a fabulously dingy and unassuming garage-type hang-out located within earshot of Broadway.

Whether in the classic cocktails and highball menu, seriously tasty but fun bar food or eclectic mix of customers, it’s the inclusive spirit of its events calendar that really makes Knox St so appealing.

Knox St’s vibe, has been described as like a scene from the Star Wars Cantina - attracting a range of different and exotic guests under its low concrete ceiling. The venue comprises three different yet separate spaces full of raw and genuine atmosphere; the main bar area with a long counter, booth seating, large metal workbench and free-standing tables; the Drum Room performance space and live music stage and; the Dungeon Room a sunken cave-like area ideal for 6-10 guests.

In addition to our rainbow cocktail-deciding spinning wheel, Knox St concentrates on classic cocktails & highballs served with appropriate large hunks of ice in chilled glassware. Their signature cocktail is the Trident True, a smooth bitter-sweet barrel-aged Nordic Negroni. Other highlights are the on-tap craft brews, organic cider and wine by the glass. There’s also natural wine by the bottle, a thoughtful selection of armagnac, vermouth and of course, Champagne for that special occasion (see full drinks menu).

As food goes, they keep it simple and delicious. Chicago-style pork chop on-the-bone burgers, house-made pork Scandidog wraps, Suzie Spoon vegan hotdog wraps & burgers as well as truffle fries, haloumi bagels,  and panko fried pickle spears (see full bar snack menu).

Knox St is home to and supporter of many of Sydney’s alternative performance and live music events; Read-To-Me, Loop-De-Loop, Hot Chips, Pop Cherch, Drink & Draw, Uplate & Uncut, The Oyster Club & Sydney’s smallest nightclub (max 6) - Friday Night Grotto Club. You can also become a member of the Trophy Club where your birthday drinks are on them.

With loads of different entertainment, classic drinks & some seriously tasty but fun bar food, Knox St is a great place to enjoy a couple of highballs after work with truffle fries, sip a cocktail at live music performance or host your own garage party.
