ABOUT The Imperial Erskineville – Rooftop Bars

To say The Imperial Erskineville has a storied past is like pointing out that drag queens are partial to frocks. This dame has lived – and then some. The Imperial Erskineville has been an icon and an institution of the LGBT+ community. In March 2018 after a much-needed nip and tuck and a deluge of love, this national treasure reopened to showcase her new look and keep the good times going.

Drink dance and eat! The Main Bar Menu features all the best pub classics with a little Imperial twist! They love all sorts and you’ll find some of Sydney’s nearest and queerest here any day of the week! Alongside their extensive cocktail menu named after a plethora of drag royalty. Queens regularly strut the stage as they have for nearly forty years. Trust us some of them still do!

Unique in style, diverse in culture, they invite you to drink, dance, drag & dine at the ground floor restaurant Priscillas! Eat, drink and be whatever you choose to be: vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, flexitarian, omnivore, carnivore. They don’t discriminate. Whatever your palate’s pleasure, there is plenty for all and Priscillas welcomes you to come join and share.

When the sun goes down, The Basement’s pulse rises, bringing together a commune of connections, introductions and celebrations in a space made to tickle imaginations and ignite passions. They say diverse is divine, weird is wonderful, unique is unreal – and yes, you’re absolutely welcome here. Two nights a week, this space is a haven for live performance, DJs and parties hosted by your favourite promoter groups, including Heaps Gay, Girl Thing, Honcho Disko.

Atop yours truly resides, Imperial UP, a contemporary rooftop bohemia born from iconic Italian food and convivial cocktail culture. Inspired by the friendliness of Italian trattoria’s and the melting pot that is Newtown, tussled with that Impy fondness for disco and flair for style. They simply added echoes of Studio 54 with a generous pour of postmodern Queerdom, and mixed it all UP into a 200-person spacious courtyard that expands beyond pop art graphics, quasi-classical sculptures, stone mosaic bar tops and a gold clad pizza oven.

There is plenty of love in their house. We hope to see you soon.
