Created as a nod to the speakeasy culture of illegal drinking dens set-up during America’s prohibition era of the 1920s and early 1930s, Speakeasy (completely legal) hasn’t been much of a well-kept secret. The small entrance located on Chapel Street is only three metres wide & is a deceptive one. As you move through the space, designed by Eon Architects, a well-stocked bar, an open kitchen, smart dining room and large timber deck & courtyard reveal themselves.
The outer terrace is perfect all year around & boasts a vertical garden, retractable awnings and a massive suspended gas heater.
Our restored Private Dining Room is located on the first floor and is equipped with a private bar and amenities. It boasts original fittings from when the building was first erected in 1885 with high timber ceilings, Baltic pine floors, fire places and period windows overlooking Chapel Street. The room is fitted with a Bluetooth data projector, internal sound system and IPOD connectivity. When using our Private Dining Room, hire of the data projector, cordless microphone and iPod connectivity are all complimentary. You are welcome to bring your own DJ, decorations, Photo Booth etc. You will also have access to a private smoker’s balcony.
