A pub with a bit of panache, The Lincoln distinguishes itself from the other uni-style pubs around Carlton with its seriously delicious gastropub-style food. There’s a sense of history in the place too, giving it just the right touch of swank.
The public bar has retained its art-deco features, with 12 taps featuring Australian craft beers, it showcases specialty brewing at its best. With a wine list focused on small interesting producers, there are pleasant surprises to be found if you are keen to try something a little different.
The kitchen serves up a menu where everything is lovingly made in-house and ingredients are allowed to shine. You might start with the spanner crab with corn crackers or rabbit terrine with mustard fruits. There’s cheese or charcuterie for a little nibble to share. The pork scotch with fennel and cod roe is a hit with patrons (and shows again that this isn’t your standard old pub).
There’s plenty to delight and with happy hour before 6pm everyday, what’s not to love?
