One of Chapel Streets iconic Function Venues, Back Bar flaunts sophistication and glamour through an ambience reminiscent of the 1920’s.  Known for our unique décor, Back Bar’s soft lamp lighting, sumptuous textured furnishings and open wood fireplace are instantly welcoming.

With over fifteen years of experience, Back Bar specialises in private functions for Birthdays, Corporate Events, Cocktail Wedding Receptions, Hens Nights, and Cocktail Making classes which are a great team building activity or stylish hens event.

We have two function rooms available at Back Bar. Our smaller room, the Red Lounge has a capacity for up to 60 guests whilst our larger Gold Lounge is suitable for groups up to 110. Both rooms have their own fully stocked cocktail bars, bathroom facilities and are fully air-conditioned. The Gold Lounge also has a small dance floor area.

There are two options for hosting a function at Back Bar. Our function rooms can be hired privately or it is also possible to book in with a guest list. Back Bar is available for private hire seven days a week whilst guest list bookings can be arranged on any of our regular opening nights. We have a 1am license Sunday to Wednesday, and 3am on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights; or on the eve of a public holiday. The venue is suitable for cocktail style events and offers an extensive canapé menu to cater for functions.

When hiring a room privately on a Friday or Saturday night there is a private room hire fee, minimum bar spend requirement plus minimum guest requirements for each room. Room hire fees are half and minimum bar spend requirements are less for Friday night functions, whilst for other nights of the week the room hire fee is waived and minimum bar spend reduced.

Private hire of our function rooms generally starts at 8pm with your choice of a 12am, 1am, 2am or 3am finish time. Should you choose a finish time prior to 3am then your guests are welcome to continue your night at Back Bar however the doors are simply opened to the public at the end of your private hire.

Room hire fees include security on the front door as well as use of the venues facilities including Dj and video equipment. The TV and video equipment give you the ability to show a DVD or a slideshow of photos on screens in the room during your function. Back Bar has a wide selection of music available for use, or you are welcome to bring your own along with facility to connect an iPod into our sound system.

With guest list bookings there are no room hire fees or bar spend requirements. The room is open to the public as well however your guests have guaranteed entry prior to 9:30pm and priority entry after that time. Should the bar become busy prior to 9:30pm we close the doors off to the public to ensure that we reserve capacity within the room for your group. It is still possible to have a tab and serve canapes with VIP Functions, and we can provide wrist bands so that we can easily identify your guests.
