EASYGOING @ JIMMI JAMZ

Winter is setting in

Escape with help from Jimmi

By Rachel Furolo

It's getting cold, we've been robbed of a true summer and now what do we do. We find places like Jimmi Jamz's to escape the cold and enjoy delicious food and drinks.

Going into East Brunswick’s Jimmi Jamz is kind of like walking into an old friend’s house. The restaurant/bar is immediately welcoming, with high ceilings, indie rock soundtrack and effortlessly cool décor making it the sort of place you could easily relax for an afternoon.

Several textures fill the space, hanging pot plants and light bulbs accompanying exposed brick walls and wooden tables that can accommodate small or large groups. The dynamic indoor area sits adjacent to an all weather beer garden, which is just as quaint and would be ideal for a Sunday session. The epitome of a bar/restaurant, Jimmi Jamz is a real cross between the two and has both on point. With opening hours spanning lunch, dinner and drinks every day and breakfast on the weekends, there is no shortage of time to enjoy all the menu has to offer. Patrons can take advantage of daily food specials such as $5 sliders on Mondays, $10 gourmet pizzas on Tuesdays (our pick is the slow cooked lamb with Persian feta) and ½ price big plates on Wednesdays.

If none of these take your fancy, why not pair a hearty salad with a ‘protein add-on’ for a little over $20. When the sun goes down, indulge in the daily happy hour from 5-7pm for cheap cocktails, jugs and wine and top it off with a board game for the perfect evening.

Saturdays and Sundays at Jimmi Jamz mean starting the day right with a killer breakfast, the maple glazed bacon, baked eggs or zucchini fritters sure to hit the spot first thing in the morning. Jimmi Jamz is not only foodie friendly but also socially conscious, currently paired with Pay A Sack Forward, an initiative aimed to support the homeless in Australia.

Restaurant goers are able to make a donation of $5, which buys a sack of goodies including a pillow, blanket and food for one homeless person. They are also a promoter of local produce, now serving Little Green Bean Coffee who roast their coffee beans locally in Brunswick. Boasting an easygoing atmosphere and all the features of the perfect homegrown café, Jimmi Jamz can be the space you want it to be, from business to pleasure and everything in between.
